Outdoor Living Design in Cleves, Ohio, Focuses on Views, Movement, and Structural Balance
This outdoor living redesign project in Cleves, Ohio, was designed to redirect attention, not just provide a place to sit. The homeowners requested more than just a deck. They wanted a structure that would alter the way the yard was experienced—one that would direct everything toward the waterfall and give the space a sense of direction.
We set the deck at a perpendicular angle to the house, breaking away from standard layouts. That choice changed the flow completely. The boards now lead the eye into the landscape, not back to the house. The railing keeps the space open, but the shape holds it in place. It feels intentional because it is.
The gazebo became the anchor. Its shape adds structure. Its lighting softens the edges. The ceiling fan moves the air. The cupola lifts the warm air out. It is calm. It is clear. Beneath the landing, we built a storage area, framed and gated, protected but still part of the design. Every switch, every light, every line was placed for a reason. Nothing wandered. Nothing was wasted.
